In a bid to repopulate and draw customers to a low usage area, Studio Intersekt tapped BdB for collaboration when Denninger’s approached them to build out their latest franchise in Burlington. Acting as Senior Creative Director over a period of 3-4 months, BdB and Studio Intersekt produced a turnkey schematic design package including design concept, storyboards, 3Ds renderings, and master planning. As a third generation supermarket with German roots, BdB reinforced and expanded Denninger’s brand identity through a mix of 1950s nostalgia with modern industrial design elements. To this end, renovating an abandoned 32,000 sq. ft. Target served as the ideal template, accentuating such design details as exposed beams and ceilings, while pairing rustic brick with sleek subway tile. Emphasis was also given to the site’s self/full serve “BiteHaus” bistro, featuring an in-house beer and wine bar.
