To build out the second iteration of their rustic Italian bistro, the owners of La Vecchia knew a different look was needed to suit the new site’s breezy, waterfront vibe. Under FORREC, the restaurant’s interior was fully designed and executed by Irfan Bukhari in partnership with architect Giancarlo Garofalo, however the exterior patio was all BdB—a crucial feature that expanded the venue’s seating by 60%, while also meeting the latest in public health and safety requirements. At 4,000 sqft, the Lakeshore site is the definition of rustic refined, paying homage to the original while remixing it with a vintage Soho aesthetic. A refreshing blend of cozy, old world elements such as textured woods, exposed brick, warm lighting, and a vaulted wine barrel ceiling, with chic trompe l’oeil flooring details, custom crushed velvet seating in muted pastels, and retro monochrome prints.
